I love the hills and trees of SW Missouri. Probably I'd locate near one of the beautiful rivers or lakes as close to the water as possible.

When I was a kid in NE Kansas, our family had to make the choice between Colorado and Iowa. I wanted Colorado, but Iowa was chosen because it was closer. I'm the only one in the family who eventually moved west from Iowa, and I sure like the Rocky Mountain West. If I was in Kansas again and had to move, I think it would be Colorado this time. I like the higher elevation and dryer air of the west. NE Kansas was good, though. I'd do it again.

Colorado has great diversity, from the rolling plains and sand dunes, to high plateaus and plunging canyons. I love mountains, but I grew up in the Arkansas Valley where the cantaloupe and watermelon grow ripe in the sandy soil. The simple beauty of the wide open spaces can be as captivating to me as an alpine meadow. Luckily, Colorado is blessed with many options.
