Default camping

I would like to take the kids camping this summer to a place they can catch lightening bugs. We don't have them here in Colorado Springs. Any suggestions on great campgrounds with plenty of trees and lightening bugs? I wouldn't mind catching some great farmers markets in addition to some small town festivals. Let me know where and WHEN (when do those bugs come out) please, thanks.

Wilson Lake

Perry Lake

Kanopolis Lake

Cedar Bluff Reservoir

These are places we've gone in recent years. A lot depends on how far east you're willing to travel, to get to locations with plenty of trees. Eastern Kansas is actually quite beautiful~so much more greenery than Western Kansas. Western Kansas is beautiful, too, but it's a different kind of beauty.

Fireflies will be flitting around by the end of this month.

Have a good time!

Sycamore Springs www.ssresort.com has a few other activities the kids would enjoy also. It has alot of history and an old stone hotel. Also has all RV hookups.
