Where can I live in Hays, KS?
I am considering relocating to the Hays area around August but cannot find hardly any apartment rental listing on the internet. Can anyone suggest the best way to find rental property in that region for me? I live in Northern Michigan and unfortunately can't just pop over to Hays and have a look. Any help would be really appreciated.

Quesera provided excellent links.
Are you moving to Hays due to FHSU?
Be prepared for a complete 180 in just about every way possible compared to northern Michigan. Hays has no trees at all compared to Michigan, but the skies/thunderstorms are quite amazing out there.

Hays probably doesn't have the internet either. Maybe dial up.

Hays is the home of Fort Hays State University
It is not like we are talking about a tiny village here.

Just a little warning, about 90% of the apartments in Hays are owned by slum lords. It's very much a renter-beware town. Some of my friends have rented from Advanced Property Management ( Home), and had a decent time of things, but were stiffed on their deposit when they moved out. Another company that owns a lot of rentals is Henry Schwaller and Associates ( Henry Schwaller & Associates, Inc.), but the word around town is that they are pretty awful landlords. I think those are the two that put any of their rentals online.
Other than that, the Nex-tech Classifieds are a great resource for apartments. Good luck!

When I was a renter I never got stiffed on a deposit- because I never paid the last month's rent.

Another GREAT landlord in town is James Braun. He owns his own properties and takes excellent care of them. He even mows the yard for you! He does houses and apartments. If you look in the Hays Daily News he posts his rentals there. Also, you may be able to find him in the yellow pages. Hes great and will not stiff you on the deposit. In KS you have to request the return of your deposit otherwise they can keep it. Good Luck! Both the west and east sides of town are nice to live in. Try to stay away from the university unless you are a party college kid. Also, Scott Biskie has some apts for rent. He owns Main Street Gym in town and can be contacted there. In phone book, or yellow pages as well. You should be able to pull him up online.
