Default Pro's and Con's on Moving to Colby, KS

...and buying a house. Wife and I want to move to Colby,KS or McCook,NE area and will be living on disability an wifes income. She work in Dietary in a nursing home now and would like to continue. Are there any positions like this in area?

Both communities have nursing homes. Whether her exact position would be available, right when she needs it, though is another question.

Personally, I like both towns.
Colby is a smaller town (by about half), but doesn't feel like it as it's along the KS E/W Interstate. Both have good shopping districts, but neither has a mall (though both have Super Walmarts). Both have community colleges and therefore have a younger feel to the overall community than most towns in their areas.

I would choose McCook for the simple reason that I'm a Nebraska girl.

I grew up in McCook but lived in Colby for a yr. But that was back in1983 so was just wondering if Colby got any more interesting. We would be excited about moving back to either place but don't want to make the mistake of being there for a yr and then saying uh oh what did we do. We are bored and this is not what we thought it would be. We only have one shot at this so want to be right.

So, find a rental for a year. See if you like it before you commit to buying a house.
