College hill good place to live? (Wichita: renting, consignment, homes)

I was looking a couple of homes in College Hill area. They seem like some nice old victorians in this area. Is this area a safe area to live in? Homes seem to be on the verge of dropping in price. My RE agent told me that the pinch has just started and that by winter good values should be found. I was thinking of renting for a bit and waiting to buy this winter. Whats the opinions here?

Are we talking College Hill in Wichita?

Because of the income level of those that live in College Hill in Wichita (one is the actress Kirstie Alley) I would say it is a safe neighborhood.

Beautiful homes. We drive through every so often and just look at them and sigh.

Kristy Alley lives in College Hill? It felt nice some of the homes there had a provincial feeling. It was like going back in time and the area was kept very nice. I put in an offer on a home and we have a contract.Unfortunatly I rented storage on south Rock instead of nort Rock and I am going to be a few miles away. Its close to old town. I have started a list of thing to do. We went to the looney bin and LOAO. A cheap way to spend the evning. I also want to go to some of the Shakespear plays that the community puts on. The Orphium is playing some old movies. I would die to see Key Largo on the big screen.

Knew KA was from Wichita but didn't know she owned a home here still.

I looked at College Hill about a year and a half ago. Nice area.

Kirstie moved back in I think just 2 years ago. I have spotted her twice..once at Furniture on Consignment and Best Buy.

The Cotillion has done a great job in getting some good shows here. The Cotillion - Concerts and Events in Wichita, Kansas - Home

Blue Man Group and Cirque De Soliel was in town.

The shows at the Orpheum are great.

I love going to Old town during the summer.. and walking from bar to bar... sitting outside... picking up a movie at Old Town movie theatre (you can order drinks and have them delivered to you during the movie.)

Sorry, that makes me sound like a heavy drinker.. not. I only get to do that once a year or so....
