lightening bugs?
Are they out yet? I really want to show the kids what lightening bugs are and we don't have them here in Colorado Springs. Figured I could take them closer to the CO/KS border. OR, we are moving to VA next month, will we see them on our way trip east?

Not sure but think I heard that lightning bugs are almost extinct...I would like to see them, too!!! They were such fun when I was a kid. Try googling 'firefly' or 'lightning bug' ...

They're everywhere in my neck of the woods, north of Topeka about 10 minutes. The kids love it!

I live in Northern Virginia and we have tons of ligntening bugs that fire up at dusk. Definitely something I enjoyed as a kid, and my three year old son enjoys them now.

In Shawnee KS, the lightning bugs are out. Almost every night, the lightning bugs are out, I loved them when I was younger. I tried to catch them and I remember it was so fun. And I'm almost positive you'll see some on your way.

Extinct? Not even close. We get them by the zillions here in south JoCo.

When I was kid we used to smear them on our arm so our skin would glow. If they are going extinct... sorry!
