What is the RN job market like in Kansas?
I would like to get some feedback from healthcare workers on what the current job market is like for RNs in Kansas. I am particularly interested in the Leavenworth area, and also, Olathe, & Overland Park. Nursing areas of interest include critical care, psych nursing and transitional care floors/units. Are jobs difficult to find in these areas? Thanks!

I am finishing my nursing BA and work in the Wichita area is slowing down. I have been told that some hospitals like VC have hiring freezes. Seems this economic slow down has not golden spots.

We need RN that work and that don't just sit at the desk, and some even sleep

Not so good xraydude. The job market is saturated although you will
see an occasional opening. Very competitive; the older Tech's are sitting
tight and the younger Grad's are having a tough time. We hired an MRI
Tech about 4 years ago if that gives you any idea. Kansas also has
State Licensure for RT's albeit with a limited scope provision. If you
are Registered in CT that is a big plus ~ the competition, and insurance
(Accreditation) make this virtually mandatory. It's not impossible, but
it certainly is not like it was just a few years ago. I understand Fort Riley
is building (and expanding) a new Hospital and I would imagine they will
be increasing the Staff so that is a possibility. The Kansas City Metro is
over staffed thanks to an abundance of School's. The Mobile Business
is another source you might look at ~ you might google Alliance Imaging
just to check out what they have. Best of luck to you !
