This board is slow because it's summer time, and the weather has been beautiful. Simple as that.

I love to explore the other state forums and see what's going on in other parts of the country. There are some state and city forums more exciting than others, but don't judge them by the size of the state or city. There's lots of surprises out there.
If the Las Vegas forum was so exciting, then why would I be doing this?

We chose to move from So. Cal. where we have lived all our lives (I am a 5th gen. CA girl) and move to Kansas. We LOVE it! No traffic, very nice people, exciting weather, beautiful countrysides and enough city nearby to shop and enjoy cultural events. OK,fine, there is humidity-- but we have air conditioners in our homes and cars. My friends in CA told me that I needed to work for the tourist bureau here in KS cause I love it so much. They are all convinced that they need to come visit now. Ha Ha

I post sometimes on the Columbus OHIO forum and it's not busy either. Not busy in my opinion.
Kansas is small compared to many of the other state/cities.
I moved out of KS 2 years ago, but come to forum because I know about Dodge City KS, quit well in fact.
I'd rather here the rants and raves. Of course, I wouldn't just follow what people say on a forum. It's always best to visit a place you're thinking about moving to.
Just because one expresses their opinions, doesn't mean they are whining.
Whining about whiners isn't any better...

Probably because the internet is not around too many places there yet.

Not true at all, kcmo. Don't you ever get tired of this schtick? You think KS sucks, we get it already! You do know that there is more to the state than just JoCo, right?
A couple of Summers ago, I took my kids on a ten day "Tour of Kansas". People laughed at me. And that's okay. I know that there is quite a lot to see and do in our home state and I wanted to share it with my kids as opposed to having their idea of KS being what they could see from the interstate.
In fact, one of our "rules" on the trip was that I70 was off limits.
We had a great time and in the end, 10 days was not nearly enough time to see and do everything we wanted to do.
Kansas is quite rich in History, traditions, culture and fun things to do. And it's not that hard to find. But turning off of I70 is a good start.

That's a great idea, Samantha! We're planning on making that kind of trip next year (this summer, the kids were just too busy). There are so many interesting places in Kansas, to see.
