Looking for a home to rent! (outside of Lawrence, KS with four bedrooms)
We will need a place to rent by the end of July! Even though it is just my husband and myself we have so much furniture we need a four bedroom place. We are looking for a home in the country around Lawrence, preferably north or west of Lawrence but are flexible. We are getting desperate but we don't want to pay more than $1100 a month. We need a six month lease since we are selling our home out of state and want to buy in this area when our home sells. We are willing to take care of a home that is for sale or any other creative arrangements. Please help! Any suggestions appreciated.

I don't think you're going to find too many answers here. Have you contacted a real estate agent from the Lawrence area? Craigslist? There are plenty of options to look into. That all I can help with sorry. Best of luck!

Yep, just trying
Thanks, we have tried it all. There aren't many places that want to rent in Lawrence for under a year because of the university. It is VERY challenging to find homes for rent in the country. Real Estate people we have tried only want to sell you homes. It really is a challenge. Thanks anyway, I was just trying all my options at this point-- we have been looking for a couple months-- we even put an ad in the paper for ourselves! We actually found a home that way but then the lady decided to move back into her home so we lost it and found ourselves in this position. I'm sure something will turn up! Anyone out there?

Have you tried Eudora? It's like a 10 min drive west of Lawrence.

How far are you willing to drive? There are many small communities within 30 minute's drive, where you may find what you're looking for. I wish you luck in your search.
BTW, Perry and Lecompton are north and west of Lawrence. Have you checked those towns?

Thanks everyone. The challenge was in the little towns of Perry and LeCompton we couldn't find a newspaper which posted places for rent. In the end we have found a small townhome we are squeezing into for 6 month. We'll survive! The plan is to buy a home in Perry in about 6 months! Can't wait! Thanks again for all your ideas and best wishes, I appreciate it.

That's great! My in-laws actually live a mile from the dam, just north of town. I think you'll like it there.
