Since you're 15, I doubt you're going to be dealing with heavy machinery. Most labor laws ban minors from operating such things.

Your choices are going to be limited because of your age/experience. I wouldn't set your goals too high. You'll probably start at minimum wage, working a pretty crappy job. My brother is 15 as well and has worked at a grocery store for a couple of months and guess what? Gets paid minimum wage and hates it. A lot of his friends in Gardner cannot land jobs. The only reason he landed the gig is because I was a former employee there and I gave a good work (bad idea on my part).

So right now, just apply to as many grocery/retail/restaurant joints as possible. A lot of jobs I know around here will not hire 15 year olds. I think you will know why. I know Target will not hire 15 year olds so don't apply there right now (I work there).

Good luck and don't give up at any point.

You may want to ask the work and employment forum and they can probably give you a general idea of what you can do.

Operating heavy equipment just isn't going to happen at 15. You can work construction at 16 but they still won't let you operate the equipment-they will work you hard but it will pay good (for a 16 yr old)

I realize you probably rushed your post and made some typos, but if your spelling is actually anywhere as bad as in your post, that needs to be improved to get a good job eventually.

My husband started at 16 helping his dad on work sites building houses, by pushing a broom and helping clean up the site. State laws are very picky with teens so you will be limited for some time. When I was a teen I worked at Walmart and if you were under 18 you could not cross the yellow line near the trash compactor. Mind you that was over 25 years ago. I bet it is worse now.

Wal mart in Topeka wouldn't take applications from anyone under 18. Both my sons tried to apply.

If I were you, I'd get a couple lawn mowing jobs anywhere in the suburbs. You can make more money mowing a couple lawns a week than you can working 15-20 hours a week at any walmart\burger type place.

Also, if you are responsible...ask around for some babysitting gigs, they aren't just for the girls.

Its silly the state fines employers for giving work to a teenager wanting a job. I know of a grocery store that was fined because they had a teenager working in the deli and was around the meat slicer. (I think he was only cleaning it) I think the employer should be rewarded for giving an energetic teenager a job,not fined. Our labor laws were not made because teenagers wanted a job ,they were made for children that were forced to work.

I got really lucky when I was 15 and got my first ever job. I worked at a car wash and I loved it! It didn't pay but the minimum plus a quarter more after 3 mos but I worked outside with a fun bunch of people.
