Good luck.
I am in education and moved to NM. After applying to several districts, I still do not have a teaching job. I hope things are better for you. BTW, why did you leave Seattle? What is the teaching field looking like there?

I know alot of people like living in the cities. But the rural areas struggle in Kansas getting good teachers. Kids are hard working, like sports and generally are respectful to their teachers. If you are a good teacher you are respected. When my daughter went to school, the English teacher retired. She had to come back because they could not get people to apply and want to live in a small town.

I'm not trying to nitpick you, but as a teacher, you might take a look at your resume and cover letters and proofread them for sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization.

Maybe you were just in a hurry posting this thread. But that sort of thing matters more than you might think, especially in the education field.

Geekychick is right, rural KS is always looking for teachers.

The wichita school district is hiring. My wife and I considered it, but my wife has a great job here in KC so with the economy like it is it's best to keep a sure thing for us. Anyway if you are up for an urban school district and a pretty good one at that regardless of what some people say (all schools have their issues) look into it. Go to their website or Kansas Teaching Jobs.com and they have a link to it. Good luck, I know how hard it is right now to find a job especially in history.
