Day Care in Wichita--Rainbow United displacement
My grand daughter (age 13 months) is one of many who is affected by the "just announced" closing of the Rainbow United facality in Wichita. My kids are frantically searching for another GOOD place for their daughter. They need one near the downtown area, or at least on the east/northeast side of town.
Does anyone know of a comparable facility who is accepting those children displaced by Rainbows closing. She is on a normal development path for a 13-month old.

My son (7 months) also attends Rainbows. We have not heard from the staff at our facility that we are closing. So if you dont mind me asking, did they hear that their center would be shut down? Also, my girlfriend takes her 7 month old to Princeton on Woodlawn. The opened earlier this year and have a sister center in Manhattan. She has no complaints, and switched there from New Song.

I see that someone posted the link to the news stories. My SIL was told when he picked my GD up Friday afternoon that in 2 weeks they would close at this location (downtown). Not sure about the others, but the several news articles don't sound too positive. I HOPE yours is staying open. Very sad as the caregivers at this facility has been so great to our GD. They love her, and the other kids, like their own children. I don't know if they've found another solution yet.

I had read that article. I am truly sad as well. We are at Kids Point, the newest location. I assume they are leaving it open. However our son is a typical child and I read they are moving more towards care for non-typical children. I dont know what that means for us at this point. Best of luck to you. Oh also, ChildStart is a great organization that might be able to assist your family when searching for childcare.

Thanks to the suggestion about Princeton on Woodlawn. My GD will be attending this facality. And it's close to where my kids live, on the way to work. Hopefully some of her other little friends will be there too. Thanks again.
This forum/resource is awesome.

Happy to help. We actually found out this morning that the infant classes at our Rainbows are closing as well. We visited Princeton this evening and will register our little guy tomorrow. We will miss Rainbows and all the staff, but they need to hire more at Princeton to handle all the transfers. 3 of the babies in his class will be attending, and she said there are several of the toddlers as well. Maybe some of the teachers will find new homes with Princeton too.
This is a great resource. I hadn't used it before this weekend, but am quite pleased. Hope she enjoys Princeton!

also leaving Rainbows
My son is a special needs, disabled child at Rainbows and it was such a shock to us that they were discontinuing services for him. We were told Friday that they would be letting go of all typical kids and only serving special needs, but that changed. I went to Princeton yesterday afternoon, got the enrollment info, turned it in this morning and got a call today saying he can start on the 17th. What a blessing this is for us. I've heard that some of my son's playmates are also moving to Princeton, so I am happy he will have some familiarity. And I hear his teacher is trying to get a job over there, even more exciting! Its located off 35th and Woodlawn behind SmashBurger and Hog Wild. Get there soon before they run out of room. They said they has been getting alot of Rainbows kids. Good luck!

Also Child Start is for low income families, but will serve higher income families who are private pay (meaning no scholarships or srs assistance). My son is in Child Start and we have a very difficult time getting Rainbows to switch him over and allow them to pick p payments, put Princeton is CHild Start approved, so if you end up the their Early head Start program, you will be covered
