Salina is "conservative" by coast standards but it is not "conservative" by Kansas standards. It does have a fair amount of "open" gays, a gay night club and the city is about 55/45 Republican to Democrat (Saline County is more conservative). So there is a fair amount of liberalism there- or at least tolerance.

Ya, city of Salina is a really good town. Lots to do and not far from a big city if you need something.

well all people have diffrent opinions but i think salina is by far one of the worst towns i have ever lived in. I lived in Denver for 15 years and loved it but had to move to KS cause of my job. I think the offices that run the town are idiots! They dont know what they are doing and are completly stupid. If i were you i would move to a small town in CO. Its hardly ever humid and has gorgeos things around it.

I wonder how many of these one-post wonders come from the same internet address.

I have seen some scary pictures of Salina but if I had the chance I know the city isn't all bad and it wouldn't stop me from moving there. The humidity however would. Salina is about the only I70 town I can stand because it has ennough people to support its self and doesnt have to rely on interstate traffic to stay alive.

I didn't want to move there at all, 13 years ago, when my husband got transferred there, because it looked so nasty from the highway, and the people seemed rude whenever I stopped there for gas or to shop. I was pleasantly surprised when we actually did move and set up house. I haven't lived too many places, but I put Salina at the number 1 spot for the places I have lived. It's the perfect size. There's plenty of stuff to do. Bigger cities are just an hour or two away. There are beautiful parks and a wonderful new aquatic center (I don't live there, haven't been, but friends have told me it's great), and good schools. There are lots of activities for kids to participate in. It's great!
