Coffeyville is the closet real town. Don't know much at all about Mound Valley at all. I have been down that way and it is most likely little more than an old community/wide spot in the road . Other than school stuff or church stuff and hunting or fishing; listening to the wind blow might be one of the major pass times.

Actually Parsons is the closes larger town to MoundValley. My Grandmother ran the post office for 25 years there.
The only school there I think is an elementry school, it used to be K-8th but now I think the middle schoolers go to Altamont which is 5 miles east. It is a "sleepy town" and a place where everyone cares for everyone. You are very close to Big Hill Lake, and some good fishing in Pumpkin' Creek. There is a softball field on the north end of the main drag. My family is from there and my family still lives there. Very quite, very friendly, and did I meniton extremely QUIET...lol There is no police presence there, the county deputys cruise there a couple times a day. Alot of my favorite memories growing up start in Mound Valley. |
