Default Paying property tax in KS and MO

Has anyone moved from MO to KS and had to pay both a full year of property tax from MO and a prorated property tax in KS?

Is there any way to get a partial refund or avoid paying double taxes on the same two vehicles for a full year?

Your only hope is to obtain a refund from Missouri because in Kansas, you pay prorated taxes from the day you register the vehicle.

Don't think MO will give you a prorated refund....I moved to OK from MO in October, 2006 and I paid the full MO amount in December, 2006. I recall I didn't want to pay it at all, but researched it and found out I did owe it.

Only hope for this poster is to move to KS prior to January 1. They'll still have to pay taxes in December, 2009 but if they're out of Missouri on January 1 then that is all they'll owe.
