I couldn't tell you about the CIS courses they have. I do know they are one of the best engineering schools in the country. The whole town of Manhattan is a nice town. If I was your friend I would take a trip there and see how they like it. Walk around and talk to people, ask them about it. I know I was able to site in on a few classes to check it out. Here is the number, email address and website to check it out. Just call them and see if could site in on a few classes.

Your welcome! Manhattan is A LOT safer then Wichita. They only thing you really have to worry about up there are drunk college kids. I do know they have a serial rapist up there. He attacks women who are alone at night in their apartments. He jumps for KSU to KU. Here is an article about it in the Wichita Eagle.

AG warns students on break of serial rapist risk | State | Wichita Eagle

Best of luck on everything!

I've heard that K-State's CIS program is excellent as well as their MIS program.
Wichita is much larger and also has gang activity. They're currently experiencing unprecedented unemployment rates (around 9% last I heard).
Manhattan on the other hand, has an unemployment rate of around 2%.

I don't know anything about the computer science program. I can tell you that Manhattan is a nice town that is growing like crazy right now.

Wichita unemployment rate is 7.9% (http://www.kansas.com/business/updates/story/1063841.html - broken link), well below the national average of 10.2%. Manhattan's is currently at 3.6%.

Knowing this, though, it's difficult to compare the two cities economically or crime-wise given the fact that the Wichita metro area has approximately 500,000 more people than the Manhattan metro.

I went to school there and loved it! People in Manhattan are very friendly, especially if you don't mind a ton of college kids.
