I'm going to a family wedding in Burdett, KS later this month and I'm looking for some info, mostly for curiousity's sake.

I see that the population is under 300... does it at least have a gas station and restaurant/bar? I grew up in a town about the same size in Michigan, so it won't be anything new for me.

What is the weather like there in January? Windy, I am assuming?

I was told that my Nextel phone won't have service there. Is this true?

Also, I see that Larned is probably the closest town of decent size. Is there anything to do in Larned as far as restaurants, etc?

Thanks for any help!

Larned will have a few restaurants but not a lot of options. I'd recommend you stay in Dodge City or Hays if you have someone sober to drive afterward (I know how small town KS weddings go-lots of beer will be drank). Hays would have the most to offer, but is a decent hike from Burdett. Dodge would be just fine. If you go to Hays, eat at Gella's or Rooftops.

It is windy or calm randomly throughout the year. If I had to guess, I'd say it will be windy and somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-35 degrees. Although, it could realistically be anywhere between 0-60 degrees. Weather in KS is crazy.

Thanks for the info! I will try to check those places out. I'm heading out there this weekend and it looks like the temps will be in the low 40's! That's going to be a nice break from what we've been having up here. Thanks again!
