I was driving through the Potwin neighborhood some time ago and fell in love with the older Victorian homes there. I love the wide streets, big lawns, big old homes. I looked at some homes for sale and the prices were reasonable. Property Taxes averaged about 4,500k yearly. I wanted to know what your opinions are about this section of town? Do you think its future looks promising? Even though I can't imagine it having a gang problem, I wanted to know for sure if it does or not? I just want overall opinions about this section of town, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I don't live there, so take this for what it's worth.

The only time I was there was as a soundman for a band that was playing at a block party. A torrential rainstorm threatened to cancel the whole thing but the people of the neighborhood took it all in stride. They found a church that granted us use of the basement. The people helped us get set up and a splendid time was had by all, indoors instead of out. The people were all very friendly and some offered to use their house for the gig but, as big as some of those houses are, it just wasn't enough.

I was very impressed, first and foremost with the people, second with the architecture and streets, trees, etc. I loved both. I would move there in a minute if I could get a job in Topeka.
