There is a fairly new housing development that is nice. If you have kids then I wouldn't live in Garden City..I am may have to move back to my dads which is in Deerfield, ks.. and I will be looking in Lakin area. One thing you need to know is that Deerfield, Lakin, Holcomb, and Garden City are all kind of "linked together". It is nothing to go to 2 or more places on any given day. I started to go to the college there, but got pregnate and then things keep happening to keep me from going back..7 yrs later lol...yes it smells there, but you get used to it..just avoid the river road on a bad day, smells like amonia. The zoo there is one that I love! it is free to walk thru and they are making some huge changes there, it has to be one of my favorite places to take my kids...there is soo much that I could say about the area...hmm maybe I should just make a post, there seems to be several people interested in the area..anyways, good luck and feel free to ask questions!
