I have been rethinking on my move to Ft. Scott. Been keeping a eye on some of the topics they have going. I have been to Ft. Scott a number of times, and I enjoy it very much, it has alot of history, beautiful homes, a nice old downtown. But I don't think that I could put up with alot of the mudslinging that goes on. It is either the rich people, or other ones that want this or that. And it seems like everytime you turn around, someone is being turned into the A.G.'s office for one thing or another.
So, if any of you out there know of more reasons why I should move to Ft. Scott let me know. For the time being, I am going to stay where I am. ![]() ![]() |

I suggest anyone who's going to move to another state/town - to really check it out. Stay in the potential area you plan or are thinking about moving to. No one can really give you reasons to move. It's your choice.
I've made 2 mistakes moving to a strange area - without checking it out really good before moving. It was a spur of the moment thing for me. Best of Luck on whatever you decide. |

Bourbon County is where Ft. Scott is located. The county has been losing population because the non-farm employment in the county has rapidly decreased over the past several years. Between 2000-2004 the county lost a lot of jobs. The town is located between Joplin and Kansas City.

I have to agree with Versatile, Ft. Scott is no different than any smaller town. You will always have the mudslinging, gossip, and trouble. Why did you plan to move there in the first place. It might be best, if you can, to take a trip out there and stay for a few days and get a feel for the place yourself, no offense to anyone but these boards aren't exactly the best place to get an opinion of an area from, there is more mudslinging here than in a lot of the towns.
