I am considering moving to Western Kansas...I have family in the area and get along with everyone really well...The only drawback is that I am not really into sports very much...Will I fit in if I don't go to every game in town? Just curious. Thanks...

I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I don't think it would be a problem.

Thanks for your responses...My relatives in Kansas seem to be "big" on sports...Everyone supports their high school team and goes to games etc...This is really great. I am just not sure that I will want to go to every single game and make sports my life...I don't come from a "sport's background."....

I know what you mean. You see in a lot of small Kansas towns the local football or basket ball game is the only regularly occurring social event were people can stay connected to each other. It took me a while to figure it out for myself. When my kids started playing school sports I would show up to the games a see all these people who I thought, “what are they here for they don’t have any kids playing” I don’t know if everyone is in to sports as much as they are just having a night out. Just my take

Trust me, if you volunteer to help with other community stuff, no one will give a rip that you never go to the football game.

j k k has good advice....get involved in something and you will be fine. It is easier if you are religious and want to join a church--barring that, it depends on the town what all else there is to get involved with. Yes, the smaller the town, the bigger is high school sports. I actually like that, and the only sports I ever consider watching is the local high school, live, the atmosphere is so much fun. I find now I can't stand to watch televised sports anymore, with its incredibly long commercial interruptions and continual hype. Give it a try, you might end up enjoying it.

Just go get a couple of KU or KState t-shirts to wear every once in a while.

You'll blend in just fine....just like a lot of poser sports fans I know here. LOL

Thanks for all of your posts and advice. Guess I need to make sure that I can really get into sports before I decide to move to Kansas. Thanks again for your help...

How do you come to that conclusion? All of the replies indicated that you don't need to get into sports.
