I was just in Hawaii for 11 days. Went back to see kids and friends and do a little business. This has been a wild week, in case any of you aren't hearing about it. Major Flooding on Kauai. I think they got eleventy thousand inches of rain in just a few days. Hawaii gov. declares disaster for Kauai, Oahu as flooding, sewage spills follow 3 days of rain - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/hawaii-gov-declares-disaster-for-kauai-oahu-as-flooding-sewage-spills-follow-3-days-of-rain/2012/03/06/gIQADsPyvR_story.html - broken link)

We were in Kailua and got close to 14 inches at our house. So send lots of aloha to Hawaii and especially the area around Lihue, Kauai.

Yup hawaii has beauty and hazards alike. when bad weather hits on Kauai is devestating. On the other hand, water is definitely need in the isles, ironically the pacific ocean engulfs these little mass of land.

I'm apprehensive about Hawaii this time of year, the rains can be really serious. And remember the 40 days during spring of 2006! That horrible sewage spill in the canal.

It's the one thing that may keep me from moving there permanently.

Oh this is very sad, I really hope for a quick recovery to the area. I have great memories in Lihue.
