I'm relocating back to Louisville. I used to live in the Highlands in 2000, but heard downtown might be a cool place to live now. I only seem to find the same old places on rental websites....any suggestions for other search engines to find apartments, condos, lofts downtown?

Downtown is changing at rapid pace.

LDMD - Living Downtown - Louisville, KY

Above is the best list I have seen so far, but it of course leaves off alot of living options as well. Are you interested in downtown as in the Central Business District? Buying or renting? I have an extensive knowledge of downtown and its surroundings as I am a downtown resident and love it!

If I were young and single and either worked downtown or attended the University of Louisville, I definitely would consider living downtown. It's really improving and there is a ton of stuff going on.

LouisvilleKy.gov - 2006 - Louisville's Downtown Alive with Development

When I retire, I would seriously consider moving to a condo on the river just up river road, where there are great views of the city. There is also a new, classy condo development going up near the stadium, but the name escapes me now. Gallery Square Lofts? (Edited to add: I think it's Mercantile Gallery Lofts.)

Clifton Lofts looks interesting.

Like all inner city living, there are good points and bad, and you'd have to know what areas to avoid. But it is certainly worth considering.

I know this is an old thread... but I thought it was interesting to reflect after 4 years. Downtown Louisville is still struggling to get a residential footing. I still think that it would make a great investment.

One problem that remains is that there are no big groceries downtown.
