Smile What is the area around Irvine like

My husband and I will be moving to Kentucky from Texas soon and have been looking for houses in the Richmond,Berea, and Irvine area. I have found lots of things on Richmond and Berea but almost nothing on Irvine. I was just wondering if anybody can tell me about the city and the area. I have a son that will be attending middle school. So I am interested in the schools and how the crime rate is. Also, anything else anybody would like to add

I lived in Richmond and Berea both. I drove to Irvine a time or two and thought it was a beautiful little town nestled in the foothills... lots more trees than Richmond, etc (which is a bit more farmland type terrain). Although I have heard the town looks like Mayberry during the day, but at night the teens and druggies come out of the woodwork and it might not be a great place for children. But.. I also worked with a man who was born and raised in that area and had children, etc. and said it's all in what you look for and the type of environment you surround yourself with. He said the town was wonderful and very safe for kids... so it's sort of like.. a handful of one.. and a jarful of another, if you get my drift... It "looked" like a pretty, clean, small town to me,.... but I can't tell you more than that! Sorry!
