Just a quick note here, in case it wasn't mentioned above (I don't have time tonight to review the whole thing):

One of the most respected sources of information about the creatures is Dr. Potter at the University of Kentucky. Now, there are two such people, so be sure you find the right one.

More later.

.

A valuable tip picked up along the way:

Possibly the best kind of sheets to use are plain pastel ones, as blood smears, etc., are not the only things to be noticed. Since the young are whitish, they are more visible if the sheets are colored.

You have 26 out of the 43 post on this thread. That's more than a little weird to me. Weird having such an obsession over tiny bugs.

It's not the least weird to the (Northern Kentucky) social services caseworker who hopes I keep posting information.

Nor was it weird to the Covington librarian who checked out the information I had on the Insight board with comment.

Nor is it particularly weird to the people who have commented to the postings on the Cincinnati board.

Perhaps what is weird is your opinion, which so far I have chalked up to a common head-in-the-sand attitude.

There are a lot of contact killers. Alcohol is much cheaper.

An infestation is another matter, and many people have an infestation before they find any bugs. THAT'S a big part of the problem.

If all you have is one, you can hit it with something, and cleaning up the blood is easier than cleaning up insecticide.

Bedbug killing: Low single digit temps kill them quickly. Low 20's doesn't phase them. Keep that in mind when you get a cold snap. Patrick in Kentucky

It is important to remember that those near zero temperatures need to be maintained for a while. And, the colder the better. Don't know the time frame off-hand, but might be able to find it when there's time.
