Alright so I live in Walker, LA and I'm planning on going to Western Kentucky University so obviously I'm gonna have to move there. WKU is in Bowling Green, and I'm wondering if Bowling Green is anything like Walker? And if not, is there any towns around Bowling Green that are like Walker?

Also, after WKU, I wanna move to Memphis, TN to work at St. Jude. Is there any towns around Memphis like Walker?

And when I say "like Walker," I mean smallish town, country, southern.

Thanks

Bowling Green, itself, is not a small town any more. It is however a small college town, very nice place to live, etc. There are many small towns around Bowling Green which you will enjoy. A big difference you will run into will be the Bible Belt. Outside of Bowling Green, there is little alcohol, a quiet night scene, and very little crime.

i knew a guy in college who was from western kentucky. he used to sit on his back porch with his cousin and shoots squirrels with a handgun, then fry em up in a skillet. he was about 45 minutes west of bowling green.

if thats what you want, you'll be in the right region. pretty much all of kentucky is country and southern, outside of the few densely populated areas. but kentucky, along with arkansas, mississippi, west virginia, and alabama, is one of the few southern states to maintain large rural population.

so if this is really what you want, dont worry about finding it, its everywhere around there

I'm not sure where Walker is, however I have family in Monroe, LA that moved there from Paducah, KY and say there is little difference. They have actually compared Bowling Green to Monroe. So if you have been to Monroe then expect that. Hope that helps!

You will be fine in Bowling Green...Franklin Ky just east of the town is a great place. Smaller than BG and very friendly and country feeling. It's a great place to call home.
