Vicki H is on a distinguished road
Default Anybody know anything about Middlsboro?

We are moving from Kansas and looking for a community that meets the following criteria.

1. Relatively small but near a larger town.
2. Has a local airport for small planes.
3. Friendly - welcomes newcomers. (Don't want to wind up isolated & friendless.)
4. In or very near the mountains.
5. Scenic.
6. Low crime.
7. Low cost of living.
8. Not in Kansas.

Some of these are not things you can tell until you move there, but Midd*****ro is on our short list. Can anybody tell us whether it fits what we're seeking?

Thanks!

I'm a little late responding to this message but Middlesboro is a nice town. There's no growth however and the population has been in a slow decline over the years. One problem is that it's isolated. No interstate anywhere near town. One major road US 25E and that's it. Cumberland Gap is very close and is worth visiting.

There are lots of old large homes near downtown, nearly all of them are very well maintained.

It is scenic and near mountains. I would doubt crime is an issue there.

The closest larger city to Middlesboro is Knoxville, which is ~75 miles away
