Has a great feel to it, but I am wondering what there is to do. I didn't see many coffee shops, or bookstores to hang out at.......or places to meet people! It seemed like a wonderful midsize town, with great walking and ease of getting around. I know u can take classes at the university!

But, are there concerts there? or Jazz places? good clean fun to be had? Is there a place where u can meet people?

Default Murray

My wife and I are probably going to relocate to Murray soon, In fact, she is out there right now interviewing for a job. From keeping an eye on the local newspaper and websites, I would say the University would be your best shot at cultural and social activities. John Mayer played there recently, which impressed me. The town also sponsors plays in the park and would seem to be committed to sponsoring the arts. It's a small town so you can't expect that much. The fact that a fairly large university is located there is a huge plus in my mind. You can get your city fix in Nashville occasionally or even in Paducah to a point. There doesn't seem to be very many Murray folks reading the Kentucky Forum threads. Your best bet is probably just to go there and check it out...that's what we're doing. Fortunately, we are big into hiking and horseback riding so the area offers us lots of opportunities.

There are 2 or 3 coffee shops in Murray, Playhouse In The Park. If you want to meet people, many of the churches have programs, Murray Women's Club, Homemakers, Red Hat Society, Romeos (Retired Old Men Eating Out), cooking clubs, geneology group, photo club, art guild .. just how busy do you want to be, there's more..
