Can anyone give me any info on the Model Labratory School? Is it a private or public school? Does it cost to attend? The stats on this school look wonderful!

Default Model

Hi Happee,

Model is a private school, that does cost to attend. However, if a parent is enrolled in EKU, there is a discount. Model has some of the highest test scores, etc. in the area. It is situated right on the edge of the EKU campus. Try these links for more info.......

Richmond Model High School - Richmond KY (http://www.infosports.com/listing.cgi?t=l&r=KY&s=s&n=1110 - broken link)
Model Laboratory School
Model Laboratory Middle School - Richmond, Kentucky - KY - school overview

You can also get great affordable day-care (taught by all education majors) at EKU, which many of the professors and students at EKU who have children in Model use. Contact EKU at

EKU Home

Hope all this info helps! Let me know if you need more info on this or other schools in the district.

All the best,
~joanna~

joanna,
You state EKU employees can recieve a discount for Model students. Is that new? Last I checked, I was not able to receive any sort of discounts. Do you have any more information on this?

Thanks,
nbrewer

EDIT - I just noticed you said 'enrolled'. In that case... I better enroll using my 6 free hours!

You can get discounts, and it's great when your kids get older (high school) you can use your free six hours for them to use in jumpstart at EKU. Unfortunatly there are a lot of politics at Model and your position at EKU will affect your kids.

What discounts? I've called around and not been able to find any discounts. Can you be more specific?

Thanks!

Model does not offer discounts of any sort. Their test scores have fallen recently and does have quite the Autistic child overflow. The school have become somewhat of an alternative school. Many kids that cannot handle a more social enviroment are fed into the school. James Dantic, the administator, has not retained the students that excel. Most withdraw to attend private schools elsewhere that are more competitive. Save your educational $ and look in Lexington or just visit Madison Central.
