Default Relocating to Northern KY (new job in Erlanger, KY)

Hey everybody,

I will soon be relocating to to the Cincinnati/Northern KY area for work, and was hoping to get some input on places (be it areas, or even specific apartment buildings/complexes) to live. I'm a young, single male looking for a single bedroom or studio apartment, with a budget around $500-700 a month. My job is in Erlanger, near the airport, and I was hoping to keep my commute to 30 minutes or less. I'm not particularly picky on the type of area I want to be in (urban, suburban, whatever), but I obviously don't want to be in the middle of the ghetto, haha. I will say that off-street parking is important to me, be it a lot, parking garage, private garage, or what-have-you. Two places that have caught my eye so far in my apartment hunt have been The Crossings of Oakbrook in Burlington/Florence and Glen Hollow in Alexandria, but that's just from looking at sites like Rent.com and ApartmentGuide. Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try looking off Buttermilk Pike off Exit 186, tons of complex right behind the Remkie, really nice area too. Glenn Hollow are great apartments I looked at them when I first moved here but thats a little far from Erlanger and that drive would get really bad after awhile. Take a look at "Running Creek" the same company that owns Glenn Hollow owns them, both 5-10 min from Erlanger and Airport. PM if you want details about here, or I can give you plenty of places around here too if you ilke.

I'm going to assume you don't have children.

Look into: Erlanger, Elsmere, Florence, Hebron (more of a conglomerate of low-density subdivisions), Burlington, Union, Independence, Crestview Hills, Crescent Springs, Edgewood, Ft. Mitchell, Ft. Wright, Lakeside Park, Villa Hills, Park Hills, Covington (although it's sketchy in parts), Ludlow

A word of advice: live as close to work as possible. Sure, Cincy/NKY is not L.A. in terms of traffic, but the drivers up here absolutely love to play bumper cars when it rains. Also, consider the fact that Kentucky sometimes does a poor job of treating its roads in winter weather conditions and it's not always fun getting to work in the winter; sure, we're not Chicago or Grand Rapids, but at least Illinois and Michigan devote large sums of tax monies to keeping up its infrastructure during the winter months.

All the communities I've listed are nice and you'll probably like any of them. I'd recommend Erlanger, Elsmere, Florence, or Hebron just for the sake of living close to where you work. You could do Crestview Hills, too, although I find the area to be laughably snooty. Plus, if you're the jet-set type, this area is very close to CVG Airport. However, Ludlow might provide a good option as you can be very close to the nightlife and socialization of Covington and Cincinnati, away from Cincy's crime problems, and come up the hill on Bromley-Crescent Springs Road into Villa Hills then take I-75 to Erlanger (Google maps it, you'll see). B-CS isn't the best quality road, but it flows and gets you away from the I-75 "Cut-in-the-Hill" cluster****.

Good luck!
