We were in Bardstown again last weekend and it was looking so nice and prosperous - really a much more "together" town than La Grange. I think every single shop in downtown Bardstown was filled, the town is very clean and has more services within the downtown than La Grange. Now don't get me wrong, love La Grange too but Bardstown is a much better run city - better shopping, nice historic sites, etc. The historic downtown is really wonderful and much larger than La Grange.

La Grange is always struggling - lots of empty shops right now although they have a much better farmer's market. As much as I love La Grange, I'd choose to live in Bardstown over La Grange.

OP - I'm curious about what you didn't like about Bardstown? Distance?

You know, she might consider the Eastwood side of Middletown. Still rural and even closer to the amenities. But it's not really "small town" living.

What do people think of Taylorsville? Close to Louisiville, nice lake, etc.

I moved to Spencer County close to twenty years ago. You couldn't pay me to move back to Jefferson County.

If you looking for a nice, laid-back country lifestyle, it's hard to beat.

And well within her 45 minutes limit. It's a very pretty area. Yeah, she should add this to her list.

Sorry, most of my suggestions would be outside the 45 minutes fron Louisville limit placed for location.

No sir. From the eastern tip of Louisville, it's right at 45 minutes. Now, downtown, etc., yes it's further. A very easy drive to get from Midway to Louisville.

Without argument, without exception, look into Elizabethtown.

Message Alanboy395 or, for that matter, myself if you want more info. Neither of us are real estate agents or convention/visitors associate there, we just and like the town.

Hmm. I don't have anything against Etown; in fact, it's a great place to raise a family. I just know if it has that "small town" feel that the OP was talking about.

I can see your point. I live in Vine Grove. While I've never even talked to any of my neighbors, it feels much more small town than E-town. E-town is kinda more suburban than rural.

I thank you all for your suggestions but I am pretty much set on LaGrange. It has just about everything I am looking for plus the schools are great. I took my daughter there this past Saturday and I think I fell more in love with it and my daughter loved it too. My next step is to try and find a job there, then finally move there.

Again, I really appreciate all of your comments! Thank you!
