We are moving to Bowling Green, KY. My son will attend 3rd grade. Can anyone from the area tell us which schools in Bowling Green are good? I have read that W.R. McNeill and Petter Gray are nice schools. Any apartments belonging to these schools' district we should choose? Any apartments or neighborhood we should avoid? Many thanks!

dixiegirl is the only Bowling Green poster we have and she's not on here very often nowadays. I don't know much about individual BG and Warren County schools to comment.

Take a look at CATS accountability testing scores from recent years. You should be able to retrieve them (perhaps with a search) on the website of the KY Dept. of Education or http://www.kentucky.com (Lexington Herald-Leader).

McNeill and Potter Gray have always been good schools. My niece goes to Potter Gray and loves it, she is really excelling and her mother is very happy with the teachers and administration. Others to consider are Natcher, Richpond, Cumberland Trace and Briarwood. Can't say much about apartments, it has been too long since living there. Hopefully dixigirl chimes in, I believe she is a real estate agent.

I have friends in Bowling Green and their son attends McNeil. They have been happy with it and feel that the academic program is rigorous. In fact, they were a little worried because their son was struggling at one point in kindergarten, and they felt that there was a lot of pressure on him to succeed. However, he had a new teacher last year and they were much happier.

Bowling Green/Warren County has two school districts...in the city district, Potter Gray and McNeil are the best elementary schools handsdown. In the county, Briarwood, Richpond, and Natcher are very good schools. If looking for an apt. or multi unit housing stick with those in the 42103 and 42104 zip codes which mainly feed into these schools. There are a few exceptions so be sure and ask or call the school board for clarification. Areas to avoid would be the west side of Bowling Green and a lot of the north side.
