Covington, Newport, Dayton areas (rentals, homes, safe neighborhoods)

Hello,
I am taking a trip to Northern KY, and I am looking into the area for relocation!

I love the fact that these cities are on the river, I like being near water! I love older homes, bicycling, walking, and maybe getting involved with a really "awesome club" of some kind.

I may have to quit my current job to relocate, so I am going to need a place to stay meanwhile, that is within my budget. A room, or efficiency for max of $450.....I am hoping I can find something for that.....I would eventually buy a home when I get a feel for the area. I will have to find someone or a management company that would let me rent w/o a job....eeks, that gets tough. I was hoping I could take a look at some rentals while I am there to get a feel for the place.......! In safe neighborhoods of course! LOL.

Cannot wait to see these cities along the river!......Does this sound like a place I could do these things in? I don't require a whole lot since I am an older adult with no children.
