Why are people from northern kentucky considered yankees to the rest of the state (Lexington: schools, tax return)

Hi, I am new to this site, do not really know how to navigate it yet, but may I also add, that my family and I are very nice friendly Christian people from New Jersey, I have 3 GOOD kids, no drugs, drinking, nothing to that effect. I do not care for the disrespect we get in certain rural sections of Kentucky. Shelbyville included. Some people are nice, until they hear our NY/NJ accents, most are wonderful people, please why not change attutide toward us, stop calling us names, telling us to leave... It's a free country. It also boosts your economy, by us spending our money $$$$$$$$ and yes, we do have ALOT of it!!!! from working and living in "The MOST EXPENSIVE STATE TO LIVE IN, WITH HIGHEST WAGES," moving to your beloved home state. We are doing you a favor.

STOP THE HATRED, AND GET REAL... WE ARE HAVING A MAJOR RECESSION, AND SO MANY PROBLEMS IN THE US. WE ARE ALL AMERICAN'S, REGARDLESS OF WHAT PART OF THE COUNRTY WE ARE ORIGINALLY FROM. I ALSO MUST THANK EVERYBODY THAT STOOD UP FOR WAZZUP, AS I ALSO FEEL THE SAME. NOW, DON'T GET ALL HUFFY, AS YOU ALL KNOW THIS IS TRUE!!!!! WHY SO DEFENSIVE??????

Again, I must thank everybody that is a decent/moral person here. There are so many charming people in Kentucky. It is the ignorant one's that give KY a bad also a backward reputation, allover the US. Too many closed minded people. Such a shame... So many Christians', well why not start acting more like Christians? God loves everybody! I thought this was more of a midwestern state also.

idk why you people are so obsessed with thinking Kentucky is a southern state. When I think of soutehrn states I think of Louisiana, Mississippi etc.... Kentucky has very little in common with these states. Im sorry people but Kentucky as a whole is not Southern. Just ask someone from a true southern state.
