Florence proper (as opposed to the surrounding areas of Boone Co which many people also refer to incorrectly as Florence) has more apartments and older neighborhoods with smaller houses. Union has very few apartments (what is there is very upscale) and is mostly new upper income houses.

Florence is a lot closer to everything and still pretty laid back. Union is a bit off of 75 and I would safely call it a suburb of Florence. MSG or reply on what specifics you want to know.
