Relocating (Retiring) in Kentucky
After 32-years in the military and a Kentuckian, I am planning to retire and move back home (State of Kentucky), either the Russell Springs to Campbellsville area, or the Lexington-Danville area, but don't know a good-honest realtor to contact. I am planning to move the 1st week of October 2012; renting-1st, and then after a year or so; buying a house. I am single, with a excellent golden retriever as my side-kick...
Any suggestions, I would deeply appreciate it.

I can give you an excellent realtor for Russell Springs area. We live here and just bought our new retirement home. We love our realtor and believe she is the only honest one in the area. Send me a private message and I will send her name and number.

Although we did not use him, there is an excellent agent that frequents this board by the name of Lexpert. He seems to be very educated to all the areas of Lex and very pleasant!
The agent we used 5 years ago was very up on all the farms available in the Bluegrass area and a huge help in finding us ours!! Let me know if you want her name! Good luck!!

Give us more of your lifestyle preferences for clarification. You don't specifically have to answer everything I spell out, but I'm just giving some suggestions.
In town, suburbia, or out in the country?
Substantial property, smaller yard or condo when you go to buy?
Accessibility to state parks?
Combo platter at Applebee's or $1 hamburger at McD's?
Horse racing and UK basketball, or could you care less?
Want to make day trips into Louisville, Lexington, or Nashville, or could you care less?
Tiny Mayberry-esque town with the town square or are you comfortable living around some college kids?

Hey guys/girls, please dont take offense to this but I really do not care for Kentucky at all. I love the horses, beautiful landscapes, yada yada yada but KY and I just do not jive. I think this is in part bc I have not experienced very much of it. With that said I am a Nashville type guy (metrosexual/country) from Alabama and married a KY girl who is dying to go back home to northern ky. She is a surgeon and im in dental school (this factoid is for your understanding where our finances will be and for types of neighborhoods you think and will be able to live in or would like to live in). She just received an amazing offer in the NKY area for a job and I dont want to crush her dreams and aspirations for my own wants/desires/stubborness/etc. I love the city but want to be able to quickly get away from it down a dirt road somewhere. I love to hunt (everything), ride four wheelers, brew beer (i would love to open a micro brewery one day when i retire) but one of my most favorite things to do is get out on the lake ( ie i want to be in driving distance (1 to 2 hrs) from a fun lake. My wife loves three things - family, horses and farms. From what I can gather where is a place that has the hunting like land between the lakes, the fun of Kentucky lake while having nice homes of a cumberland lake, close to an area like Newport on the levy and either lots of land that we can live on a horse farm or just a nice home that we would be proud of? If it was up to me we would go to Nashville tomorrow. Thanks for you help in advance

Got it PP, thanks! I'm still not sure where I'm going to end up, but any time someone has a recommendation, I file that away in case I need it.
