I am about to retire from education in Alabama after 25 years of service. I am male, divorced and children are grown. I wouldn't mind relocating in the Western KY area with decent access to I-65. I have a Ed.S. degree in School Counseling and would like to remain in similar position whether in education or something else in which I can utilize my skills. The number one problem I face is finding a job. If anyone can give me information regarding the school systems, both public and private, I would appreciate it. There are also educational jobs in industry that really would peek my interest if I knew where to begin looking. Any information, especially from educators in the area, would be greatly appreciated.

You should have no trouble. I pretty well know the entire state, but am most familiar from The William H. Natcher Pkwy which runs from Owensboro to Bowling Green @ I-65. If you follow i-65 to Goodlettsville (just north of Nashville, you can turn toward the Northwest in I-24 to Hopkinsville (which connects to the Pennryle Parkway), or you can follow I-24 on up and over to Paducah.

The following URL is from the Kentucky Dept of Education and it is a posting of certified staff positions through out the entire state.

As for jobs, please try the following

I-65 is in central KY, but in western KY there are many opening for teachers. I'm not a teacher so I'm no help as far as what all you have to have and that for job placement but I'm sure the web sites Tom posted will be of help.

Where is the nurse/doctor! You should be recuperating. Put the phone down! Get well!
