Non-churchgoer in Kentucky?
First of all, hello to everyone. I am brand new to posting although have been reading for a while. Everything I have read about Kentucky makes me want to move there, but I am wondering if I and my family will be treated like outcasts or heathens because we do not attend church. I'm not trying to stereotype residents of KY, but many, many posts giving advice to newcomers talk about finding a church, going to church suppers, etc. We are friendly, decent, law-abiding people but for various reasons have not made organized religion a big part of our lives. Any replies, please be honest because I have two teenagers, one of whom would be finishing high school in KY (if we can ever sell our house....big IF). Thank you to any and all who care to share....

Plenty of bible bangers here but there are plenty that don't to church either, I don't go and far as I know I'm not outcast ... but maybe they're just not telling me.

Thanks for a good laugh, Davart. I'm not so much concerned about my husband and me, just don't want my son to feel out of place any more than a kid would at a new school. But...he's in marching band and I know those kids bond pretty quickly.

My family never went, no one really cares. People mind their own business.

If you are in small town Kentucky, you may feel some pressure to choose a church. In Lexington, Louisville and Northern Kentucky, nobody is going to care one way or another.

Some well meaning neighbors may invite you to thier church, but are not offended if you decline.
My wife is a "fallen" Catholic and we don't attend regulla (spell?).
Usually just tell them we are Catholic and they don't ask any more :-)
Short answer is no, I don't think it is a big deal...
Good luck and welcome.

Unless it's a very small community, I don't think you'll have any trouble whatsoever.
