Default Murray and surrounding area

Family will be moving to the area next summer, due to getting a job near Paris Landing State Park.

We are looking at Murray, but also looking at the surrounding area like New Concord, Hazel, ect... We would like to live near the water.

Any info would be great...Special things to take into consideration that we might not see on the internet.

Thanks

If it's near Paris Landing you want to be, then you might want to consider living in Tennessee close to there. There is no income tax in Tennessee (but they do have higher sales tax). But if you want to be in Kentucky, you might want to be careful around the New Concord area. It's pretty rural around there and quite frankly, it has the (possibly unfounded) reputation of being favored by the local meth cookers. There are some good places but I would be real leary of any real estate "bargains" you might find in that area.

Murray-Calloway County, Kentucky: Murray-Calloway County is named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People for the third time in part because of its emphasis on strengthening families and improving outcomes for children and youth by identifying needs, opportunities and priorities for future action; promoting effective city/school collaboration; encouraging and supporting youth voice, engagement, and leadership; and measuring progress over time.

I have some retired friends who have a trailer on the lake near New Concord. They love it there. She can sit inside or out with her cup of coffee and look out at the lake or walk down and join in on the fishing.
