Now in her defense I am married to a man 7 years younger than me but then again it took a man that young to keep up with me As far as the rest, I don't know anything about that

Nina in HD is on a distinguished road
Default Lovin Kentucky

I'm Excited! When do I move? I especially find the counties of Jefferson, Hardin and Fayette interesting with the cities of Louisville, Elizabthtown and Lexington. I hear that the people are very friendly in Kentucky and the grass is so green it's almost blue in late Spring.

You don't know the WHOLE story, but thanks for providing the judgemental ignorant response I have come to expect from SOME people in my home state. I am still waiting for someone to call me "white trash" and a "no good mother". May God bless you because if you are this quick to judge another child of God, then my friend, YOU need prayer.

I am an LPN and I am in school for my RN and BSN. My husband wants me to stay in school because I can do MUCH MORE for us in the future with more education. He makes decent money by himself and does not want me to work. LPNs in Charlotte typically work 12-16 hour shifts. If I was working right now, I would not be able to help my husband with his 5 year old little boy (my step son). When my schooling is finished, my step son will be 2years shy of being able to stay at home and watch himself. Once he reaches this age, I CAN and WILL go to work full time and make close to 90,000 a year too!!! After ten years of working, I plan to retire into a teaching job. Nurse instructors down here are PAID!!! Don't worry about me buddy. My life is on track now that I have found God and have stopped trying to undo the mistakes of my first marraige!!! Like I said before, the situation with my sons are in God's hands now. There is no point in me bringing my kids down and my self down by fighting in court with their father. Their dad may have won in court, but God is the ultimate judge. I have faith, justice will be served!!!

North Carolina has mountains in the west, beaches to the east, and cities in the middle with a population of over 9 million people. You have to be specific when you say "North Carolina". I have given a specific area of Kentucky that I am not crazy about and for good reason. Do us a favor and give us specifics about the area of NC you are talking about. Until then, your comments are null and void...

What do their ages have to do with anything? My mother and her partner have been together over 25 years and he is 12 years younger than her. He's a great man who has been more of a father to me than my bio father could. Age does not mean anything and urbancharlotte should not be judged based on her husbands age or race. She shared her life experience in Kentucky. That doesn't mean everyone has to agree or disagree with her opinion. Its unfair to bash her. We all leave or stay in Kentucky for different reasons. Its my home and my roots. My heart will always be there regardless of where I live. I am a Kentuckian before I am an Alaskan and will always feel that way.

As far as racism in Kentucky, I do believe urbancharlotte has some very valid points. It is alive and well. I witnessed it while growin up there and see it everytime I go home. I imagine it is probably very hard for to live in EKY with her husband. No one wants to have to defend who they fell in love with everyday and it sounds like this is what she was having to do. She left and appears to be happy with her life. I don't interpret what she is saying as a personal attack on everyone in Kentucky.

My reasons for not moving back are primarily job based and as soon as I can find a good paying job I'll be back in the Bluegrass State again.

Wow, back off on urbancharlotte, ya'll ("ya'll" know who you are.)

Great way to show Southern hospitality and to let "civic pride" cloud vision and taint rationale (whatever rationale is.)

Thank You so much!!! I really needed to read your post. If you noticed, I always said "I grew up" in Kentucky, but I never said I was born there. Ironically, I was born in Fairbanks due to my father's military job. I was an infant when we returned to KY. Small world huh?

You were correct when you said things was tough for me and my husband in EKY. In reality, they were more tough on my husband mostly. He is a 6ft 4in, 225 pound, muscular NERD. I mean TOTAL GEEK!!! He is so FREAKING CUTE with his geekish ways and athletic look though. He has NEVER been in trouble with the law. He doesn't even get speeding tickets. He drives a gasoline tanker truck for a living. The background check alone just to hold his class A CDL w/Hazmat&Tank endorsement is VERY STRICT. I mean finger prints and all!!! When we were in EKY, my husband had to get hired for his job in Charlotte and transfer to the company's Ashland terminal. No one in Ashland wanted to hire him except this company. This company's headquarters is in Rocky Mount, NC. Once he got a job, he was one of only two black tanker drivers in Ashland. The other black driver had such light skin that he looked like a white guy at a distance. My husband is dark a stuck out like a sore thumb. At work, my husband did not have too many problems. The problems were outside of the workplace. Mainly with the police in the area. Like I said, my husband is a nerd, but the police in the area treated him like a thug. They would have my poor baby pulled over on the side of the road somewhere almost every week. One deputy even threatened him with arrest just because his hands went into his pockets to pull out his wallet. That deputy had just asked to see his license!!! My husband went into work one night, and three deputies out of nowhere surrounded him with their hands on their guns. They asked him what was he doing at the gasoline truck company at 12 midnight. He told them he was starting his shift. They still questioned and harassed him for nearly an hour. He had on his uniform, ID badge, and the keys to the building were in his hands the whole time. Those deputies were just being mean. He went to the local chapter of the NAACP in downtown Ashland about the incident. The lady had a telephone interview with him about his story. She seemed very interested in getting him justice until she met me. After meeting me, she told him that "being with a white girl is gonna cause some problems for you in this community". After that, he never heard from her again. She was black BTW.

I thought that since my husband was from the south, he would be used to the aggressive tactics some white cops tend to use with young muscular black males. The fact that he came home crying because of EKY's cops told me that he was not used to this kind of treatment at all. This was my first sign that things were different in his home town. You guys don't know how bad this made me feel. He was and still is supporting me, and this is how my home treated my man? It made me sick. Just plain sick.

I am not at all trying to bash or belittle KY nor the people of KY. I AM A PERSON OF KY SO I KNOW THERE ARE GREAT LOVING FRIENDLY PEOPLE BACK HOME!!! I just wish that the "silent" majority of good people in KY would try harder at educating and converting the "loud" minority of bad people in KY. It is the "loud" minority of bad people that ran me out of the state while the "silent" majority of good people just stood on the sidelines and watched with their mouths hanging open. This is why I think so many people are leaving KY and so many are choosing not to ever move in.

I thought I might have been wrong ridiculing you for --"robbing the cradle"

I guess I wasn't wrong when I see you refer to your husband as ---" my poor baby"
