Hi,
My husband and I are coming to Butler County next week for a land auction. We have been from Casey County to Crittenden County looking at hunting land to buy.We will have a little extra time this trip and wonder if there is anything we should see on the way. We are coming from North Carolina. We like,(I like) antiques, general stores, Amish Communities....Thanks for any advice.

You might want to run over to Woodbury, there are some old river locks there on the Green River that are interesting. I think they became inoperable sometime in the early 1960's but used to handle a lot of steamboat & barge traffic from the early 1900's up to the 45-50s. There is also a museum onsite that may be open (not sure at this point). There are a few historical sites around as well as some interesting old homes such as Hammers house & the Kent/Moore house. Morgantown is a quiet little town but very nice in my opinion. Kind of reminds me of Mayberry!

Digger~

It has rained here for the last four days and not much sun in the forcast for the weekend. For the wife that wants that wants antiques and the amish Auburn is the place to be. They have a shaker store with baked goods and stuff that are quite tasty with a tour of the community. The name of it is Shaker Museum. the number is 270-542-4167. They are open year around. They have some wonderful shaker collectibles in there. For the husband that might want some shopping, Bowling Green opened up its Gander MTN. last weekend or the famous Uncle Lee's is in Greenville,KY. those are probably up his alley. Hope this helps and will be home all weekend if you guys need anything else let me know.
