Default Independence

We're looking at a home in Independence, and I wanted some input about the town from anyone who lives there or near there. Is there anything I should be worried about? Thanks.

My girlfriend lives in Independence. Having visited the area many times now, I truly love the city. I have never been to NKY until I met her and now it is one of the reasons I am transferring to NKU

my daughter and soninlaw and grandkids are also looking to move in that area. soninlaw took trip there last weekend and loved the housing. i am worried for myself moving there at my age 57 leaving my job here in nj and starting over. medical and housing etc. the townhouses look great but this is a very big decision. we have lived in nj all our lives but it is getting so expensive to liver here in bergen county.

Where in Bergen Co.? I lived in Allendale for a couple years growing up. It was an adorable, quaint town. Nothing like the "Toxic waste dump" people try to say NJ is. I loved it!!

I live in Taylor Mill , which is just to the north of Independence.

We moved here from California a few years ago. We never looked back. Other then the cold winters, we absolutely love the area. Its clean, no gangs no graffiti very friendly people and its relatively cheap to live here.

Hi I don't know when this was posted as I just happened onto this site. If you are talking about Independence KY, I can explain some things that have happened to us.. We are retired military moving, "home" in a city next to my hometown.. Wanted a little country living after 17 yrs in cities where military families live...

If you own dogs, and you get a neighbour from the darkside, (and every city has one) as we have found ours, they have an ordiance that doesn't allow you to have dogs that bark..!!! The neighbour has more rights than you do at that point. No if ans or butts.. We also have found this out.

You cannot have a fence in the front yard of your house. Housing is nice here, but taxes are very high. On a 147,000 house, you'll pay close to 3 G's for it... If you would like more info on my situation, you can email me @ ussferret@yahoo.com mark in subj line want info on Indepedence KY I'll answer any questions You may have to the best of my ability..

^ The dog thing is extreme, I've never seen it enforced..

Also, the taxes are not as high and the surroundings, go out to Walton and you might as well give your left leg.

What part of town are you looking at?
