Just about four months from now we will be going to Northern Kentucky to buy a home to enjoy for our retirement, last year we were to going to move to Laughlin, Nv but after a short trip to Ky we changed our minds. We are looking to move to Hebron, or Union or Burlington. We love the four seasons, we live in Northern Ohio and can't wait until we find our new place. I enjoy reading all of information, but lately it seems like a chat room with negative ideas. So if anyone has any positive information about Hebron, Union or Burlington, we would love to hear about it!

Granny, I don't have any specific information to share, except that I love the entire N KY area. My daughter lives up there as well as a friend of mine. I think it has lots to offer along with winters more mild than what you're use to and summers a tiny bit milder than what I'm use to (Lexington). Close to Cincy with sports, arts, etc. I would enjoy living there myself! Good luck!!

Thanks, we can't wait, and less snow is better than lake effect snow, I think it is a move in the right direction! We researched and was linked to several ladies who told us about the car tax valoreum and the real estate taxes, and Kentucky only has a 6% sales tax, I thought West Va was almost heaven, but now I think Kentucky has the edge!

It's not as backwards as the rest of the state (although Lexington and, to a lesser extent, Louisville aren't terribly backwards.) And that's about it.

You'll enjoy the proximity to beautiful, history-rich neighborhoods in Cincinnati in Ohio and Covington, Bellevue, Newport and Ft. Thomas in Kentucky. You'll enjoy beautiful, older suburbs like Mariemont, Montgomery, Madeira, and, although in Cincinnati proper, Mount Lookout and Hyde Park. You'll enjoy the easy proximity to a thriving arts community in Downtown Cincinnati.

Nonetheless, I've had several out-of-region interviews and am really clamoring to leave. You can take my place.

wow, even when you are trying to be positive, you are negative. "its not AS backwards". youve got to be kidding me. youve been "clamoring to leave" for months now. clearly its time for you to move on.

and being a native of rural kentucky, wouldnt that qualify you as backwards?

Sorry, Granny. You wanted positive thoughts and that's what most of us were trying to do. But, no matter what room you go to, there's always somebody to make others look bad. This is a good state, no matter what part you go to. I will kind of agree with Mr. Ears, some parts may not be as good as others. But overall you'll enjoy it here.

As far as I am concerned, Kentucky is the best State for retirement. We retired here in late August and will never look back or leave. I love my Kentucky neighbors, the cheap utilities, the cheap taxes etc... Did I mention the wonderful people? You will definitely enjoy it here.
