Default can someone tell me about maysville?

is it in northern or western ky?
my son and his chicago friends were there over the weekend and said they were stared at and asked constantly "why are you in maysville?". is maysville one of those towns where everybody knows everybody and a foreign face is immediately spotted?
does maysville have a missouri or tennessee influence?

It's about an hour and a half or so northeast of Lexington on the Ohio River. It's a really small town and I'm guessing it's one of those towns where most everyone knows each other. My neighbor's family is from there- very friendly people.
