Paintsville and Prestonsburg (Pikeville, Kevil: apartment complex, crimes, find a job)

Hi I'm looking for some input on these areas. I live in Ohio and was thinking of relocating in a couple of years. I have family in Paintsville and they aren't very helpful when I ask them questions about the areas. I don't go down and visit very much because my children are half Asian my family says they would have problems because of their race. They also say that I will not be able to find a job, and the police are corrupted. My nephew is half black and when he went down he was pulled over leaving my cousins apartment complex my aunt was in the car behind him and they didn't stop her because she is white. Is this something that happens all the time because you know what I would love for this to happen to me because I would have fun bringing it out it the open for the world to here about the small cities and racial profiling. Would love any comments good or bad.

Happy, I can't speak for Prestonsburg, except it is 25 miles north of Pikeville, but I have lived in this area for over 30 years and have not seen any racism..We have a number of Asians here who own businesses, we have Asian Doctors and Asian students at the College and there are
Asian children in the schools. We also have Phillipino's, Indians, Mexicans and Black Americans..I have not seen any hate crimes in this area..I am not saying that predjudice is completely unknown, because it isn't..Sorry to say that bigotry exists everywhere..The biggest problem in this area seems to be that we are stereotyped by the film industry and people who just like to insult our laid back friendly way of life..Oh , and to add there are several biracial children( including several whom are in my daughters husband families in the area who have no trouble being accepted.

Well I have 2 biracial children and I live in Pikeville very close to Prestonsburg and they never see a problem and as far as their dad he never sees any problems as well. I think maby that was an one time thing...IDK..

Then basically you're looking for places to stage demonstrations and satisfy yer own amusement using your children for bait??

NO JUST TRYING TO STOP THE BS THAT STILL EXIST IN THESE SMALLER TOWNS.
