My husband and I are moving to the Georgetown, Ky area in about a year or so. We are looking for a safe, low crime, middle class neighborhood that is close to hospitals, fire departments, restaurants, bookstores, etc. Schools are not a priority for us. I am a fine artist, so I will be looking for the art community in that area. We are considering renting in the beginning so that we can explore the different neighborhoods for a few months before we buy a house. The info you share will give us a chance to look over both houses for sale & rentals online from Phoenix. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

Georgetown is a fairly small town, so there are not a ton of different areas from which to choose. There are some charming, historic homes in the downtown area, although there are also some rundown areas there too. Further out, there are newer, fairly typical suburban developments in a range of prices, some which are starter homes and others which are larger and in golf course communities. In the more rural outskirts, there are developments like Mallard Point and Victoria Estates that offer more natural settings in a development community, as well as ample homes on larger lots that sit on county roads.

If you're not restricted to only Georgetown, you might also consider looking at Lexington, which is a bigger city about 20 minutes away and has quite a few more housing choices as well as a larger art community.
