I was thinking we can change the world by one small step, and thats by paying attention. Starting with our own loved ones, our communities, and the world. We are none as good as we should be, paying attention to whats going on around us. In our own lives, the children have grown up, parents are getting older, and sometimes spouses grow apart. We often wonder, "When did that start happening?" Little changes have been happening right before our eyes over a period of time. We just weren't paying attention.
It's not just our families, but our communities and world also. I believe when we see something going wrong in our families, communities, and the world, an injustice, cruelty, waste, or foolishness, we should say something, or do what we can to make it right. When we don't like to see children neglected, homeless on the streets, or a family member being depressed or unhappy, don't wait till its too late to say something or try to make it right.
During this wonderful new Year "Pay attention".

Great New years Eve post, UniqueGal..Too many times we let things get out of control, before anyone takes any action, because we didn't want to "interfere". By that time people are usually mad and things escalate..Too many times we wonder. "how did I miss that?" In my own life, I have learned that the one small step sometimes has to be mine..When I look back now I can see where more and more and even more footsteps joined mine until we were one solid group with our eye on some goal..In my case it was family and occasionally for another cause..

I have seen myself letting this happen over the years too Blue. My new Years goal is to start paying closer attention, before things do escalate, and impossible to make right. I wish I had been this wise years ago.

Isn't it amazing how much smarter we get as we get older? I'd love to look like I did 30 years ago but I would never give up my wisdom and sense of self.
