Thats one reason I'm looking into moving down there...it sounds like the city is growing..plus i need a little more sunshine..I'm from OHIO and it seems like there is 5 to 6 months that are gray and cold...i like the snow but can't deal with the gray sky...depressing....

The Corvette plant only employs maybe 200 people there, BG's economy is more based around the university and being the main shopping area for a large area of KY. It is only ~45 miles from Nashville, a very fast growing city

The Corvette plant employs about 1000 people. There are numerous other automotive suppliers in the region as well. But yes, the university and retail are significant employers.

Glasgow is a pretty good town, it has all the stores and food joints you would want. The schools are good from listening to friends that live there. The area around glasgow seems to get tornado damage pretty often it seems.
Adolphus, eh? Howdy neighbor! I bought a place in adolphus a couple years ago but haven't got around to moving yet. One of these days I will. I'm currently in a town next to you, you know hwy 100 going west.

Back to happymee's questions.
I cut and pasted some of this from info I posted on this thread, but added a little more info here.

The south side of Bowling Green is generally nicer and newer subdivisions. Although there are some very nice neighborhoods in the city. Bowling Green High School is generally pretty good but there is more of an economic mix of the students, thereby hurting the test scores. Greenwood HS district is generally considered the best, this includes the southern side of the city and more newer suburban and rural areas out highways 234 (Cemetery Rd), 231 (Scottsville Road), and 622 (Plano Rd) and 884 (Three Springs Rd) to basically put you in the Greenwood District. The schools that feed into Greenwood are generally good.

What are the typical real estate taxes for an average home? What areas are "less Diverse" ? We are relocatibg from Chicago and have had enough of diversity so we are looking for a less diverse area.

Also Looking in BG
I have been researching for months on where to live and keep coming back to BG. We will arrive in June and start househunting. I have contacted realtors, county school districts, researched driving distances...anyone know what I am forgetting. We have never been to BG and have picked it as our retirement spot. I am looking at homes in the county (taxes and schools) but will take any and all suggestions. All I need is a good commute to WKU. Thanks to all of my new neighbors in advance.
