Who's ready for casino's???
We have been told that we are in a massive budget shortfall. If having casino's means not getting our taxes raised, I say BRING IT ON!!! I can keep my arse out of casino's, but I am forced to pay taxes. I do live in Murray, 60 miles from Harrah's in Metropolis, Ill, and have played the cards once in a while, but have never had the "urge" to go blow my paycheck at the place. So are the rest of my fellow Kentuckians ready for casino's? Oh and before you Bible-thumpers slam me, I urge you to visit Metropolis. Ernie Fletcher refused offers to visit there when he was filming his "No Casino's" ad campaign. Why did he not accept their offer to visit? Because Metropolis has very little crime, is a clean town, and has some of the friendliest people in the area.

I don't see anything wrong with casinos. I have been to Harrah's in Metropolis and Aztar in Evansville, In. Prefer Harrah's. Gambling in a casino is just like any other habit people talk about. It's only bad if you let it. My wife and I may go once or twice a year, with $25 each to spend. When it's gone, we leave! If you go to a show, dancing or whatever then go out to eat, you'll spend more than $50. As far as being able to end the budget shortfall, I don't see it. But I do agree it will help some. I've worked for the state of Ky. for over 25 years and hear that "budget shortfall" within a month or so of the new governor's inauguration.

If it creates jobs and brings in out of state money, I say bring on the showgirls. All politicians promise jobs, few deliver.

stx, I couldn't give you a percentage, but I live in a small town and know several people who go to Aztar in Evansville 2 or 3 times a month. One friend goes with a group once during the summer to Tunica, Mississippi.
