Default Spencer County/Taylorsville?

I have been looking for a home with an acre or more in Oldham County and have come across some nice looking ones in Spencer County (Taylorsville) & I was wondering if anyone had any input on living in that area? Are the schools good? Is there a drug problem in that area (meth)? Crime rate? Friendly people? The homes that I have seen for sale appear to be very nice, one plus acre, some brand new, others not too old and reasonably priced @ around $239,000. From what I heard Oldham County is one of the best places to live but it is hard to find a newer home there with some land at around $225,00. I do not want to compromise safety or a good school system though for more land so if Spencer Co. or Bullet Co. are not a good area to live in I will not go there just to have more yard. Any info. on these areas would be great. Thanks in advance.

Well, I live in Taylorsville...after spending 15 years in Mount Washington which is in Bullitt County. If you are going to move to Bullitt County, stick to Mount Washington. It's a much better side of the county. Very little crime, good schools and very decent people living there. Taylorsville is the same. We've been there 3 years. Absolutely NO CRIME. People often say Oldham is the place to live. What I know about Oldham is a lot of status seeking people live there, much of the higher income "doctor community". It's all about who has the bigger house and the nicer stuff. And in recent years there have been several murders in Oldham. But, people never talk about that stuff.

As a product of Taylorsville/Mount Washington I can't say enough good things. It's quiet country living that's really close to the city for convenience. And I've never witnessed any crime.
